What We Offer

Our Programs

i Lead Empowerment Initiatives program

When women/disabled have the chance to lead, they make a profound positive impact on other fellows and the community where they live however when it comes to leadership in Somalia, inequality has stalled. We work with women/disabled who are uplifting the voices and opportunities for others and creating change in the following topic areas:

· Political Leadership Advancement
· Human Rights Promotion
· Ending Gender-Based Violence
· Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship

The greatest unfinished business of our time is consentrated on three key priorities:
-Fighting poverty, fighting poverty and fighting poverty;among people with disabilities (PWDs) in Somalia and beyond.
-Due to institutional, atatudinal and environmental barriers, PWDs often fall beyond the parameters of the socio-economic opportunities in the country. Our unfinished business number one is therefore, to creat employment opportunities for people with disability. We aim to creat skills that can improve employability of PWDs and tackle institutional, atatudinal and environmental barriers.

– Furthermore, our next key priority is to protect human rights of PWDs in general, with particular focus on women and young girls, who bear the double burden of disability and all it means in a country like Somalia, as well as the gender-based inequality. Big part of this is consentrated on tackling violence against disabled women. We invest in women/disable leaders who strengthen the crafting and implementation of legal frameworks, provide services to victims of gender based violence and change mindsets about gender-based violence.

– Lastly, not the least, we give priority on how to create political voice and representation for PWDs in Somalia – this is not unfinished business but it is in its early stages. Somalia is now part of the UNCRPD, and all rights enshrined in the CRPD cannot be delivered if people with disability do not have a political voice and representation. People with disability will have no meaningful education/skills, employment opportunities, accessiple environment or anything to that effect, without political voice.
